We've got a topic on the X and the 8, so I'd like to know what you think about the new watch?
Will anyone order one?
Has the watch really caught on with this community?

i don't see much different between watch 2 and watch 3. in fact, i think apple has discontinue watch 2, and replace it with watch 3. at least, that is what it looks like on their apple store app. the only different that i can tell that is significant is that watch 3 has the cellular model. i'm not sure if i'll order one, because the battery is still less than what i would like, and honestly, whatever that can be done with the watch can also be done with the phone, so... anyway, we shall see, maybe might be a good Christmas present. wink

I'm sticking with my series two...but I did update to the version of Apple Watch that was released today. I haven't played with it long enough though so will come back when I have if I find anything's different.

But what I would like to know is is this device really something useful for us, or is it just and extra add on we can use the phone for?
You can make calls with the 3, but how good is that call quality?

Post 6 by season (the invisible soul) on Thursday, 21-Sep-2017 1:03:45

depends on your lifestyle. if you are one who get out and about, and one who uses gps and as health tracker yes. If you are someone who just want an ordinary watch that can make phone calls, replying to text, then maybe not so much. like apple products, the main purpose for the product is not what it usually intent for. e.g. if you have an iphone, you might find that the least function you use on the phone is the phone function. and same goes with the watch. it is everything else but keeping the time. don't forget, unless you get the cell version, otherwise, it will also take up your phone battory as well.

If you get the cell version, you will have to get a separate SIM card for it and have to negotiate that with your carrier.
I use the health app on the phone for step tracking and that's about it.
I just haven't seen the need for an extra device to keep charging, and keep the Bluetooth on my phone turned on for as well. I generally use wired earpods.

I find the watch extra helpful as I'm one who likes to track my fitness. I don't find the health app all that helpful personally.

I would find the watch useful if in my possession a pare of air-pods were handy. At last, I'm not ready or willing to purchase a pare at this time. It would be handy to just leave my phone at home and keep moving. Again, i own LG platinum and tones so I'll stick with watch 1 and watch 4. To answer what is differetn I've noticed, when music is playing your musc app pops up on the watch when you have had it locked. Useful if you ask me, I'll post back more if people are intrested.

PinaColada
don't forget, unless you get the cell version, otherwise, it will also take up your phone battory as well.

Do you mean because you would have to use bluetooth?

I have mine on preorder. I got the newer one, 3.
I also have the air pods.

Leo, you don't have to purchase an actual sim card. As I understand it, this uses an electronic sim--therefore, the sim is embedded in the device like the phones from Verizon. You still have to pay $10 extra for the cell service. I really don't know if this would be useful to me. Would depend on if I could pair my hearing aids with it. Otherwise, I'm not interested.
Nathan.

Nicky
, why do you want this item?
What will it do for you?
That is what I'm asking the blind community.
Is one of these sort watches actually valuable over the phone, or are they just extra gadgets?

I would like as a first gen I-Watch user to answer this. It handy to walk and talkt o someone when your hands are full, telling the time and texting. Tracking steps if your into that and light email reading. The fact series 3 has been free from its phone, sweet!. No need to cary your phone if it needs a charge, pockets are full, ETC.

i still want to see how this whole model 3 going to work in action. i understand that you can use it wtihout a phone, but, how does it work? does it need another sim card or what?

Post 15 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 02-Oct-2017 9:54:11

Has its own sim.
You pay a fee because it is an extra device like a tablet or whatever.
The Sim isn't regular, but specific to the watch.
It uses your same mobile number though.

To be honest, I'm one of the few who if he gets this watch, will get it without the cell service. With LTE on the watch, you will barely get a few hours worth of use out of it, which is just not worthwhile at all for me at the current time.

I never minded the watch being a bit dependent on the phone, so honestly, if the series 3 without LTE really has better battery life as advertised, that's what I would shoot for if I decided to finally purchase a watch. At least, until they finally come out with an LTE watch with better battery life.

Post 17 by season (the invisible soul) on Sunday, 08-Oct-2017 0:09:57

apple clame that with LTE it will get you through the day, with around 8 or 9 hours of continue use. without LTE will go for around 10 to 12 hours... mind you thouhg, LTE will only work for that specific country. means, if you got it in the states, and if you want to travel abroad, or if you moving to other country, the LTE will become useless. same goes with say you got it from Australia, it will only works with Australia cel providers.

Ok so I am updating for you guys.

I got the 3 with the calling feature.

Let me say the phone calls are choppy and kind of sucks but might be useful in a pinch. I hope it gets better. I haven't really tried a lot to use it though. I should try more.

It helps keep track of my steps, activities and such better. A lot better.
I do not always carry my phone and notice a difference.
I get reminders for activities on it and that helps since I work from a desk.

I can quickly check to see how long until my bus comes, respond to text messages and push notifications but I cannot get on facebook, twitter and things like you can on your phone. So if someone tweets or facebooks me, I can reply to it but not actually view the intire pages.

I use it a lot for work. Checking emails, calendar, reminding me of a meeting, messages and so on. it allows me to keep a closer eye on things and this is important for me with my work. My phone sometimes is not always with me.

I love having one because I can use the apps I need for the bus, time and a few others while out and about. I can tap the screen and get a vibrate of the time back when it is too loud to hear anything.

I always have a hand free to do one more thing when I do not have my phone in my hand as much. But you will still need to have your phone a bit for many things.

As for the bluetooh headphones. UGH! It annoys me.

I have the airpods and if I happen to get my watch close to my head, the watch will try to take over the airpods, even in mid podcast. This is a pain if I am trying to facebook, text or something on my phone and held it up a bit, the voice over will cut out because it is trying to bounce back and forth.

Speaking of podcasts, youtube and other playback things.

If I am in the kitchen, shower or wherever and I need to pause, play or whatever, I can do it from my watch and not have to walk across the house to find my phone. Same thing with receiving alerts.

It is nice not soaking my bathroom with water because my music app stopped playing or I HATE that song and I had to cliam out of the shower mid wash to fix or change things.

Any questions, I will try to answer.

Okay. Thanks for your post.

BTW. Foregot. I do not have battery issues. If you keep on top of charging it at night or when you jump in the shower, or some point when you don't need it. It is good.

I have the first stainless steel apple watch, and I love it. In my opinion, apple came out with the watch that should have been what they made in the first place. everyone wanted data connectivity, apple had the tech to do it and they didn't. What you guys have to realize is they design these things years and years out. They had the tech to put LTE in when the first or second watch launched. But like the iPhone x, they hold off so they can keep milking the upgrade cycles. and this isn't me talking crap about apple, I live in an apple house. But most companies do this, the third gen isn't anything new.
